They've been in that limbo where you don't know whether you're going to assisted living, or are we locking them up in memory care? Or do we do like some home health care? And mom was saying, lock them up, because she's worn out. She's 80 also, you know, exhausted. And my friend like spent the day with her dad, like she was dad sitting, and she's like, I'm not sure he's ready for that. Like we've had all these conversations.

But then, and that's you know, you were in there for a few hours and leave. And it's just so tricky navigating how to make the right decision. And so she's been having to go over and help. And so she's, you know, definitely realized. I mean, she always knew how taxing it was on her mom. But anyway.

I refer her to Ruby care and her mom talks to Tina, was the advocate that they were paired up with, and you know, walked her through how it worked, and the mom started to feel really good, like because they take away all the stress of visiting these places. It's it's it's amazing and

I'm just there to bounce things off of if you feel like it. And she was like, I would love it. I would and I'm like, okay. So

Then my dumbass gets roped into touring memory care for the whole day. But I was just really curious to see, first of all, how RubyCare worked. And it's amazing. They do all the legwork, all of it. They make all the appointments. They know all like the amenities. They know all the price lists. They have everything.

So other people that she had known like it was just so nice to be able to have someone with all that knowledge because you go in so blind.

It was just it had a lot of it had some good things. like it'd been open for seven years and the turnover was like zero as far as like the exec the executive director, the cook, like all this stuff. It was just like a a house that cooked for 20 people.

They like they have like an on-call doctor thing service. Yeah. And like my mom's place didn't have that.

And I said, it's about Alzheimer's. And he goes, Well my dad, my grandpa just got diagnosed and we're dealing with that now. And I'm like, Yep. Have a good time at the music festival, buddy. He says he doesn't want to die, but refuses to lose his mind. His wife and children support his decision, but wish Iowa allowed medical aid and dying in the states to avoid that trip.

he spent 24 years working as a communications director for Iowa Senate Democrats until difficulty managing the tasks led him to retire in 2022. And he said he felt terrible for years. You know?

It's different than euthanasia because the patients themselves administer. And it's authorized in when we talked about this before, we weren't sure what states it was authorized in.
